Liverpool confirms squad for PSG game as Arne Slot makes Cody Gakpo call
Cody Gakpo is in Liverpool's travelling squad for the Champions League trip to Paris Saint-Germain, despite being absent from training on Tuesday.
The Dutch forward missed recent games against Wolves and Aston Villa but made substitute appearances in the Reds' last two Premier League fixtures, against Manchester City and Newcastle.
However, he was not present for the training session on the eve of the PSG game, which of course poses questions over whether he will be fit to play. His name was, however, included on Liverpool's traveling squad list for the game.
Arne Slot will address reporters at a press conference in Paris on Tuesday evening when he will undoubtedly be asked about Gakpo's fitness.
Slot has named a 24-strong travelling squad for the game at the Parc des Princes, meaning at least one player will be culled when the Reds' head coach selects his matchday squad: teams are permitted 12 substitutes in the Champions League, although Slot could opt to name a smaller squad as he did on multiple occasions throughout the league phase.
As expected, Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez are not in the squad, with the pair both currently recovering from injuries. Both men are struggling with muscle problems, with Bradley set for another few weeks on the sidelines, while Gomez is not expected to return until towards the very end of the season.
Full squad: Alisson, Endo, Van Dijk, Konate, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Mac Allister, Salah, Chiesa, Jones, Gakpo, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Robertson, Gravenberch, McConnell, Jaros, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Davies, Nyoni.
