Whatever happens in the Champions League, Vincent Kompany’s job is safe at Bayern Munich
According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany’s job will not be in danger if the team flames out in the Champions League.
Per the Sport Bild duo, Kompany has received assurances that the outcome in the Champions League will not have a bearing on his job security. However, his future could be tied to whether or not he leads the squad to a Bundesliga title. Bayern Munich, of course, holds a commanding eight-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen at this point:
Bayern bosses have given Vincent Kompany a guarantee that he will stay in the job regardless of the outcome in the Champions League. Winning the Bundesliga would be enough for the Belgian to continue working at Bayern in calm. The people in charge are convinced of Kompany’s work.
The Belgian has done a solid job during his first season in Bavaria, but the longer he is at the helm, the higher expectations will become. Each season will present a new challenge, but Kompany has handled the situation with aplomb so far; taking it all in stride, winning over the locker room, and generally having a lot of success so far.
