Joshua Zirkzee display against Everton has Man Utd supporters all making the same point
Joshua Zirkzee caught the eye of Manchester United fans after his performance against Everton at Old Trafford on Monday night.
David Moyes took his Everton team to Old Trafford for United’s first league fixture following the November international break.
Ruben Amorim had seen positive signs from his team, who came into the match with three wins from their previous five outings.
But their momentum had stalled just before the break, with dropped points against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham putting a dent in their form.
At City Ground, it was a 2-2 draw with Forest, where Amad Diallo’s late volley helped salvage a point for United.
The same scoreline came up again against Spurs in their next match, this time Matthijs de Ligt providing the late equaliser in stoppage time.
Man Utd fans now react to Joshua Zirkzee’s display at Old Trafford in the Premier League encounter against Everton
Joshua Zirkzee was given his first league start of the season after Amorim decided to use the Dutch forward in place of the injured Benjamin Sesko. Matheus Cunha was also missing, giving Zirkzee a rare chance to lead the line.
The 6ft 4in striker had opportunities throughout the match but struggled to make an impact, especially in aerial situations, which left many supporters frustrated.
One United supporter stated: “Zirkzee is 6’4, but can’t collect a single cross.”
Someone else wrote: “Joshua Zirkzee win a header challenge (impossible) [sic].”
“That Zirkzee fella, whenever [a] cross comes in the box, he knows how to dodge it. 10/10 for that,” argued another Red Devils supporter.
“Bro, someone explain how Zirkzee is 6 ft [4] and can’t win a header,” a fourth fan published on X.
“Why are United swinging crosses in? Ridiculous. They have zero players in the box who can head the ball. Zirkzee is a non-entity,” a fifth supporter added.
How did Man United v Everton unfold?
Idrissa Gueye was shown a straight red card early on after a bizarre incident involving his own teammate, Michael Keane, leaving the visitors with 10 men inside the first 15 minutes.
Despite the early setback, Everton managed to stay organised and took the lead just before the half-hour mark. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall curled a superb shot into the top corner from outside the box to put the visitors ahead.
The Toffees went into half-time with a 1-0 lead and managed to hold onto their advantage throughout the second half, despite being a man down for most of the match.
