A recent report suggests that President Donald Trump's Secretary of War's wife is a much more influential person in his decision-making and has allegedly become his most trusted adviser at the Pentagon. Sources claim that she has aided in press policies, conducted job interviews for prospective employees, and attended high-level defense meetings with Pete.

Meanwhile, Jennifer accompanies Pete everywhere, and now the reason has been exposed. She travels with her husband mostly to keep an eye on him. This comes after Pete's post hyping up his wife stunningly backfired amid nepotism backlash. It comes after details of Hegseth's affair with his now wife were exposed.

The New York Times has published a report suggesting that Jennifer travels with Pete to keep him in line. An insider revealed to the outlet that she is also there to keep him out of trouble, as he has previously been accused of alcoholism.

In 2024, Pete's former Fox News colleagues told NBC News that they would smell alcohol on him every time he went live on air. One colleague stated that Pete's drinking problem was such a concern that "everyone would be talking about it behind the scenes before he went on the air."

Another source commented, "He's such a charming guy, but he just acted like the rules didn't apply to him." However, Jennifer's role is bigger than keeping him in check.

The outlet also claims she is his "most influential adviser" and is said to be involved in active decision-making, attends his meetings with the press, recruits staff, and helps create the Defense Department's video content.

Despite her previous role as a journalist, "Mrs. Hegseth was eager to revoke the credentials of Pentagon reporters who she felt had written negative stories about her husband," the outlet reported, citing two unnamed sources.

Meanwhile, on August 3, the 46-year-old Secretary of War turned to X to celebrate his wife being named chair of the first-ever Presidential Military Spouse Commission, but the post misfired.

Earlier in the day, Pete, Jennifer, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, and several dozen military spouses gathered with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office as he signed an executive order establishing the commission to tackle challenges facing military spouses.

In Pete's tribute to his wife, he said he was proud of her for "stepping up for our great military families," alongside footage of Trump signing the commission into existence.

In a heartfelt message to his wife, Pete wrote, "So proud of you @JennyHegseth - thank you for stepping up for our great military families. The best of our country. And thank you, Mr. President - historic and deeply important." Yet numerous social media users were quick to raise concerns about Jennifer's credentials for chairing the commission.

In the replies to Pete's post, one person criticized, "Hegseth is incompetent, and the fact is unqualified wife has to be there is just ludicrous!" Another added, "With all due respect, this should be led by someone who actually has experience dealing with these issues. It should be led by an active duty or retired military spouse."

A third critic lashed out, "Well, I guess you had to find her a fake job. Since she is always following her husband to work.
